The Institute of Physiology I at the University Münster invites applications for a

PhD Student Position (f/m)

TV-L E13 Research Scientist

in preclinical epilepsy research. The project focuses on the prediction of epileptic seizures in a genetic rat model of absence epilepsy and the possibility of seizure prevention via deep brain stimulation paradigms. The successful candidate will be part of a joint collaborative project between Münster University, Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands and Saratov State University, Russia (see van Luijtelaar et al., 2016).

The ideal candidate will hold an above-average Master degree or equivalent in a relevant subject (Medical Biology, Neuroscience, Biological Psychology or related fields) and has a strong interest in neurophysiological basic research. Prior experimental experience in in vivo rodent electrophysiology good manual skills and an interest in signal and network connectivity are certainly a plus.   
Applicants should have good knowledge of the English language (written and oral).

Duration of contract: Initially limited until 30.09.2019 with an option of a 1-year extension if not evaluated negatively.
